Moving from the cool tools to the not so cool stuff of blended learning, student learning outcomes, I wasn’t sure if we’d hold everyone’s attention. I think though we’ve turned the corner because I noticed many fellows embracing the concepts and ideas. Some were even going home to work with the student learning outcome tutorial. It’s been very satisfying.

I like the idea that blogs, wikis and other social software can be used as repository of sorts. When a course is over, what happened is still there, potentially forever. Blackboard’s structure doesn’t allow that. Blackboard is useful for a lot of things, like an array of course management tasks.
Blogs and wikis do speed things up, the exchange of information and knowledge even, but I know some of us are wondering if we want “it” to get any faster. When I think of things getting faster, I panic when I think about controlling it, keeping tabs on it.
Ending thoughts from the groups:
Horizon Wimba may allow faculty to “never come to campus again” 60% of incoming freshman are coming to campus with a laptop but they might not have the resources, like headsets.
Ichat was intriguing. RSS is cool but it takes time to set up.

I’m going to posting during the workshop when I can, like I did in Seattle. The schedule is here. It includes links to the tools sheets which I’ve found very helpful and have passed on to others.
